Satin Slippers #5 is a wonderful book. It shows how jealousy can hurt a friendship, but not destroy it. The bond between the girls at the San Francisco Ballet Academy is very strong and it is shown throughout this book. This book also shows how hard it can be to be a dancer, but the rewards that come out of being one. Katrina, a wonderful dancer who can't pay tuition for another year at SFBA, is upset because if she doesn't win the Adams Scholarship, she can't continue her education at SFBA. Whoever gets the scholarship also gets to play the lead in Swan Lake. Leah, one of Katrina's friends, is very jealous of Finola, an exchange student at the academy, and is determined to show her up, even if it means beating Katrina, causing her to leave school....what will leah do?
