Some of the things mentioned are based on the author’s life!

A Sweet addition to this story: it’s partially based on real facts! The author herself sews pillowcase dresses for children in Africa, has been doing so approximately 8 years and has donated over a thousand dresses! That’s amazing! My mother has a very pricey embroidery machine that I’m sure is similar to Gretchen’s. She even bought a laptop specifically for the machine. She’s made some pretty cool things. My mom has also been on a couple of missions trips to Africa with some of her church members. She said the children could not get enough of learning about our wonderful God. They consumed The Word like their very breath relied on it… It does. 😍 I should tell my mom about the pillowcase dresses and perhaps she can also donate. She’d LOVE that! Speaking a bit more about the pillowcase dresses, there are instructions at the end of this book on how to do it and the amount material needed. There are also tips on making them. As far as this book, I thoroughly enjoyed it and cannot wait to get to the next in this series. I couldn’t put this read down. Was Iris accidentally killed or was she murdered? It went back and forth all through the book. I had wondered several times if the Sheriff himself was involved somehow and that’s why he was so reluctant to do any investigating. I sure am glad Zack was around as a sounding board for Abbey. There were several suspects throughout, also, and I honestly had no idea who the maybe killer was… if it actually was intentional that Iris died. It wasn’t until the last few pages that everything was solved. There was also the problem with the reason why Abbey was staying at her aunt’s house. Her job in Los Angeles put her on leave and she wasn’t sure if she’d be able to return or not. So, that is answered, too, right at the end - the answer as to whether or not Abbey decides to stay with her Aunt Sarah in Hideaway Grove. We got to know the town and the people in the town. I can picture the bakery/sewing shop perfectly and it makes me wish I could be with the ladies helping, too. I see a bit of a romance developing between Abbey and Zack and also Caitlin and Mitch. We haven’t met Scott yet, but based on the way Caitlin (rarely) speaks of him, she isn’t too thrilled with the prospect of marrying him and I hope she doesn’t! Next is: Hanging by a Thread (A Sewing Studio Mystery Book 2)
