Great Book..considering I haven't read the first book

Yes, there is a first book. When I got Seaflame I didn't know and I read it first. The first book is called Lady of Fire. This is a story about a family torn apart and is later reunited. A mother loses her two girls, Evonne and Gebevieve, when raiders attack their home and rape their mother. The girls are each seperated and the mother's sole purpose in life is to find them, her'treasure'. The mother, Sabelle, becomes a pirate of the high seas in the Caribbean while her 5 year old daughter Genevieve is sold into slavery. Gen is later bought by a polite and boring English family and ends up marrying their son. After their son dies of an illness, the mother tries to fix her up with another guy. On board, she meets and befriends a man named Robert St. Justine. Not only is he handsome, he's also a sweetalker. Shortly, they are attacked by pirate ships. And this is how Gen first meets her sis Evonne. As Gen marvels at a pirates life, she refuses to go back to her old life and family. After her sister helps her recall the memories about her mother, Gen vows to search for her. On the other hand, Evonne refuses because she fears the disappointment of expecting the unexpected. Since Evonne is a pirate, she steals the goods and gets hostages from the ship that Gen and her family were sailing in. One of the hostages is Robert because he has a very wealthy (yet cheapskate) grandmother. When Evonne sends Gen to collect the ransom money for Robert's release she meets his dear and special friend Michael Clermont. One thing leads to another, and lo and behold, they end up in bed ...with no stings attached. When they are in bed, the authority comes and carts Gen away and she thinks that he betrayed her. This is not much of a romance novel. I mean , it's a good book but it's plot revolves around family reconciliation. Here are some of the reasons why I liked it : 1. Exotic locations (Caribbean, Gibralter, Spain, England, France) 2. The primary and secondary characters are great/interesting even though their relationships with each other aren't ideal 3. Adventure: fighting, killing, discovering, outrunning, And....here are the reasons I didn't like it: 1.) The main character , Gen , sleeps with other men before she realizes that she loves Michael and wants to be with him (including Robert)...it's almost wrong because Robert 'seems' to be with Evonne... can we say musical chairs.? lol 2.)the exotic locations...sometimes seem too much esp. towards the end ...the move aroud so much I'm like where are we again? 3.) Michael and Gen spend so little time together before they jump into bed. True they don't fall in love till later ..but come on they hardly know each other. Most of the time they are seperated and they spend their time idealizing and daydreaming about each other. 4.) Didn't like the ending with Evonne... Don't want to kill it for those of you who will read it. It's not believable to me come on we know

If you believe in Heroines

you'll love this book. It's a historical romance yes, but it's so much more than that. It's an adventure on the high seas, intrigues in the courts of France and England, blackmail and the ransoming of not so innocent piracy victims. Two sisters discover each other after their family was torn apart almost 2 decades prior. They also discover love and honor and loyalty along the way, and some very handsome beaux too. But the great romance in this story is not between men and women, but between the sisters, and their long lost mother. If you like strong central female characters, and lots of them, you'll like this book.
