A beautifully written novel

My grandmother gave this book to me years ago when I was a young teenager and I haven't stopped thinking about it since. Elizabeth Carlson's story deserves all the credit its been given and then some.

Well written - Gripping story

Scream Quietly was a well-written, heart-felt story relating a family's struggle to survive in the middle of chaos during World War II. The book was hard to put down. In reading this, one learns of the struggles this family encountered, the strength of their Mother, and God's leading amidst their difficulties.

A Must Read for 2008

What an incredible read! Scream Quietly was one of the few books that once I started reading I could not put it down. This is a true life drama describing the worst of times and survival that just keeps you wanting to know more. Have you ever wondered how you would react if you were told you have to leave your home immediately and walk away to seek shelter? Where would you go, what would you take, would you abandon your faith? Elizabeth Carlson doe a magnificent job describing the World War II events when Hitler's Nazi army swept through Poland and how God provided for one ordinary family. If you buy only one inspirational book this year, Scream Quietly is the one.

A Spell-Binding Must-Read

A great fiction book is disappointing only when it ends. This book is heartbreaking only because it is not fiction. Elizabeth Carlson has written a captivating, spell-binding account of her early years in Poland during WWII. While no one should have to endure what her family endured, everyone should read this true account of their experiences so that these things will never be allowed to happen again. Very well written, and a 'can't put it down' read. Thank you Ela, for sharing your life with us.

Scream Quietly

SCREAM QUIETLY is a captivating book. I didn't want to put it down and then I didn't want the book to end. To think this is a true story of what happened to Elizabeth Carlson and her family and they lived to tell it. Thank you for sharing Liz. I'm urging my book reading friends to read it.

Excellent read! Couldn't put it down!

I heard Elizabeth Carlson speak at our church a couple of years ago and she read a part of this story to us. She hadn't yet written the entire book or decided to publish it. At the time she was just trying to get her mother's memories down on paper before they were lost forever. When she finished speaking, we were speechless and couldn't wait to hear more! When I heard that the book had been published, I immediately bought two copies for the library where I work, and invited Elizabeth to do a book signing for us. Scream Quietly is well written, with simple wording and explanations but the content may be too disturbing for younger readers. I highly recommend it for anyone over the age of 13 or so. It would be great for book discussions, bible study groups or for church libraries. You won't be disappointed!
