excellent book, black and white pictures, great information

This is an excellent book. The book is volume one of a two volume set. The second volume has many full color pictures and more description of interpreting the eyes and the challenges the body is dealing with. This volume has a few color pictures and the balance of the pictures are black and white. It is excellent for information. The research and discussion in the book is the best. This is the best book for truly understanding the background of this field. I highly recommend this book but do be aware that two volumes exist and this one is heavy discussion and minimal graphics. It does have graphics but a very small section that is color. The other graphics are black and white and much like what you see on the Internet for visibility. If you are looking for graphics then volume 2 is what you need. I am very elated that the book is in print as few books of such quality exist in this field. The fact that it is hardbound is really nice. It would be well worth getting both volumes as the author is one of the very best in his field. Finding charts and their interpretation as well as the exact eye location for proper interpretation is very challenging for those of us still learning the art, so if that is your goal this author and his two books are worth investigating and buying. Very highly recommended.

Classic iridology text

I recommend this book to anyone who is interested in iridology. It was written by the famous Dr. Bernard Jensen, author of the classic Chemistry of Man. Dr. Jensen ran what he called a sanitarium, in today's world, it would probably be called a medical spa. His patients came and lived there so he could oversee their nutrition and monitor their recovery. One of his main diagnostic tools was iridology. He explains that iridology allows you to see the inherent structure and working capacity of an organ. This gives you the ability to get to the root cause of an illness. He refers to as it reflex areas and remote symptoms. He provides excellent pictures of patients pointing to the area that has caused pain for years, with the accompanying illustration of where this problem showed up in the iris, and which was further validate with x-rays. He discusses different equipment that can be used, examination methods and office charts, and colors of the iris (he believes all eyes are truly either brown or blue). He goes through and explains each area of the body and common things you would see in the iris in that section. He has numerous illustrations and photographs that are extremely helpful. I photocopied the picture of the twenty foot tape worm on page 105 to motivate my son to take his herbs, and it worked! As in his other works he spends plenty of time on bowel health, which we know to be extremely important. He believes that many chronic conditions are the end result of poor diet and the resulting bowel disorders. He calls the intestinal tract the hub of the body. He has an illustration on page 103 that shows the iris as a hub with the intestines at the center and the head, ears, shoulders, hands heart, kidneys, feet and hands coming off of it. It's an excellent chart because it makes the way the body relates to the iris easier to remember. Learning iridology takes study and practice. One book alone is unlikely to teach you everything you could possibly learn about the subject, but this is certainly an excellent basis for your iridology studies.

A fine introduction to a lesser-known field of Naturopathy

This textbook (and that's what it is) is used in Naturopathy courses in the U.S. The book I have was originally written in 1952 and updated in 1989, so it's, perhaps, not as current as it could be. It has lots of valuable photos and diagrams and verbal descriptions. As to the accuracy of Iridology as a discipline, time will, hopefully, tell. It does seem a stretch, but odder things have happened. I'm reserving judgment. It's organization is interesting, but it is rather easy to read. It also has a fine quote for my collection: on page 333, a poem entitled-- "Things Not Done Before: The things that haven't been done before, Those are the things to try Columbus dreamed of an unknown shore, at the rim of the far-flung sky. And his heart was bold and his faith was strong, as he ventured in dangers new. And he paid no heed to the jeering throngs, or the fears of the doubting crew. The things that haven't been done before are the tasks worthwhile today. Are you one of the flock that follows or are you one of the timid souls that quail At the jeers of the doubting crew, or dare ya, whether you win or fail, Strike out for the goal that's new? This could be the theme for potential practitioners of Iridology.

A Good Way to Learn Iridology

My uncle is an Iridologist, and he recommended this book to me, as I'm planning to become an Iridologist myself. Unfortunately, people have misconstrued Iridology to be some sort of perfected science. This is not true. This book describes the up to date findings of many Iridologists across the globe, the history, the practice, the theology... it is all in this book. Apparently, there are those who do not understand what science is, because I just read a review for this same book, that states "This book describes Iridology as a science in its infancy." This statement is true, but remember, none of the modern medical world is accurate to 100% in any way, and there are hundreds of diseases that we cannot explain, much less cure. This book will teach how to practice iridology, and many case histories, examples, and illustrations will be more than enough to teach you how to use it. If you wish to learn iridology, start here.

Excellent descriptions of iris signs & nutritional needs

This book is a must read if interested in practising iridology. Comprehensive, detailed and indepth anaylsis of signs and constitutions of the iris. Dr. Jenson's applications of nutritional suggestions for iris signs are beneficial and practical. This book covers the history of iridology and the reality of it's limitations. It is a must read for all my students.
