Despite the negative reviews above, this seemed like the perfect present for a retired priest friend for Christmas, and I have to say now I've received it, I love it! I found no nun-phobia in the text, and as a Catholic myself, found nothing offensive in the pictures either. Everyone is entitled to their own opinion, and certainly the Sister who reviewed it so harshly has more right than most, but I found its humour to be warm and human, not vicious and satirical, and a wonderful portrait of those who dedicate themselves (so vitally for the rest of us)to the spiritual life. Nuns are human, after all, and this book shows that - whilst also illustrating the many achievements they have made and do make to our communities. Maybe this book will help break down the barriers constructed by a perception of those in religious orders being scary and remote - and that can only be a huge positive, in this reader's humble opinion, at least!
Nuns are human, not robots of perfection.

This book illistrates the human sides to nuns and shows them as being dynamic beings. I think it is rather positive and humorous to view women of the faith through a human lense.

Great pics, interesting words and quotes on nuns from literature and people as different as Madonna and F Scott Fitzgerald. What's not to like?
