Second Book in the SVH Senior Year Series

"Say It To My Face" picks up where "Can't Stay Away" left off--with the embarrassing shower scene between Elizabeth Wakefield and Conner McDermott. They both realize they're now "roommates" when Liz stumbles upon a half-naked Conner in her bathroom. (Liz had accepted Megan Sandborn's invitation to move in with her family; however, she didn't know beforehand that Megan and Conner were half-siblings and living in the same house.) This really complicates things for Liz and Conner, because they've both become infatuated with each other ever since the beginning of the school year, but neither one is willing to admit it. So, when Maria Slater (Liz's close friend) falls head over heels in love with Conner, Liz has no apparent reason to stop her; after all, Maria still thinks Liz hates Conner's guts. And what makes it worse for Liz is that Conner returns Maria's feelings wholeheartedly, when Liz had been certain he still felt something for her.On a lighter note, Liz makes some new friends with Conner's group (Tia Ramirez, Angel Desmond, and Andy Marsden), which is an opportunity for Liz to shed her old image. Although Tia mentions to her boyfriend (Angel) that Liz doesn't seem like a blonde bimbo (Conner's previous opinion of Liz), I'd have to disagree. Liz uses Valley girl slang ("like", "whatever", "omigod") quite often and gossips a lot about clothes, other people, etc. What happened to the good ole practical Elizabeth Wakefield? This ditsy behavior I would have expected from Jessica, but not from Liz.And speaking of Jessica: she's now the social reject of the two, because she got involved with a taken guy, Will Simmons. Now his girlfriend (Melissa Fox) is ruining Jessica's reputation by spreading rumors about her, writing "Jessica Wakefield is a slut" on the blackboard, and sabotaging Jessica's cheerleading routine. Really, I think Melissa is spending way too much time and energy on the wrong person. What about Will? He's the one who cheated on her. Jessica's entirely innocent. That dilemma is probably the most aggravating thing about this book/series. Well, that and some of the names of these books in this series, starting off with "Say It To My Face". I know the intended target for SVH Senior Year is teenage girls, but do they have to try so hard to be "hip" by naming their books "As If I Care" and "So Not Me"? I keep expecting the next book to be called "Like, Omigod, Whatever".Still, I think this is a great series and slightly better than the old Sweet Valley High books. True, there aren't a lot of the old faces from SVH, but the writing is much more compelling. Worth checking out if you're 12+ years-old and enjoy teen drama/romance books.

Great Book...

If you read Can't Stay Away (SVH Senior Year #1) then this book is a must-have. The whole Conner-Elizabeth saga continues with Maria, Elizabeth's best friend, added into the mix. Jessica pays the price for her relationship with Will. Will anybody really believe the rumors flying around with her? Will her friends stick by her when she needs them most? And will Liz ever get over Conner? If you want to know the answers to these questions, plus more, then you've definitely got to read Say It To My Face. I really loved it, and I hope you will too. Hope I've helped. C ya!!

Great Book!

This book was a great book! I hate what happened to Jessica. She didn't know Will had a girlfriend. Did Melissa ever think about the cheating BOYFRIEND? Anywa, back to the point. It is so obvious that Conner likes Liz and I'm beginning ot think that Liz is falling in love with Conner. Some people think Conner is bad news, but he's soooo sweet! Also Recommended: All SVHSY and SVJH books.

Great...

I've truly enjoyed all of the 4 new svh senior year books. They're a vast improvment from Sweet Valley High. All the people who commented on missing the old characters, if they like the old characters read SVH, I had actually given up on Sweet Valley untill these books came along and I think the new characters are a great breath of fresh air. Jessica's new personality did bewilder me, but its a new year, different people, and I can see how this vast change could happen to someone. She better toughen up somtime, though! I count the days untill #5 comes out!

Pretty Cool...

I really enjoyed this book. The diary entries are great. It is also good to see Elizabeth and Todd broken up, the whole Conner/Liz thing looks like it will be great. Especially since Maria likes Conner too. I think that Tia may become Elizabeth's new best friend. I have also noticed that Enid and Elizabeth are drifting apart. Winston isn't in this series, which is kinda upseting since he adds comic relief. Overall a 5 star book, I really like where the storyline is going.
