Book Overview

The true story of a mother-to-be, a deranged attacker, and an unborn child. It seemed like a simple case of mistaken identity. Sarah Brady was nine months pregnant and the baby gifts she registered for were being sent to a Sarah Brody. Little did she know that it was a trap set up by a woman so desperate to be a mother that she would try to steal Sarah's unborn child.

Very informative account of a tragic story

This book tells me pretty much all I need to know about this tragic story in which Sarah Brady, a woman 9 months pregnant, nearly loses her baby and, in the process of defending herself, ends up killing her attacker, Katie Smith, who was hell-bent on taking Sarah's baby by force. To its credit, the book approaches each woman as a human being learning to cope with life's hardships but in very different ways, Sarah learning to communicate and talk out her problems and express her feelings in a healthy manner and Katie keeping all those inner demons to herself and living a life of fantasy. It is very easy, once one looks below the surface, to see how what happened came to happen. Again, a very human accounting of the facts of the case, both leading up to the attack on Sarah and afterwards, with the police investigations, how some of Katie's family members chose to deal with their grief by lashing out at Sarah and accusing her of things she didn't do, how Sarah's healing process started and is continuing to this very day. To this reader one of the most cogent truths in life is expressed near the bottom of p. 61, to quote, "You don't learn anything from the easy stuff in life; it's the tough times that teach lessons, forge character, create a sense of appreciation and make you what is called a survivor." How Sarah grew up and dealt first with poverty and then this attack and what happened afterwards surely bear out what is stated in that sentence. Yes, the triumph of the human spirit!! Some of the legal technicalities could have been left out, and the book needed better proofreading, but to me these were minor drawbacks. This book has a lot to teach people and, in my opinion, succeeds quite well in doing so.

Page turner

This book is a page turner into the twisted life of the potential kidnapper. It is ver ydetailed and you can't put it down.

Unbelievable

The world is full of sick people, but this takes it to a new level. Thinking somebody really planned this, it's unbelievable. It made me feel that I can overcome anything and everything. Thanks
