Wonderful

Loved it. Great and weird ideas about sea monsters, science, and humans. My only complaint is wishing there was more explanation and backstory of certain characters.

A very different kind of horror story

Here is a damn good example of unique horror writing. I loved this book and think it would make an awesome movie under the right director. Saurian the great lizard beast, try all you want to but you can't deny this guy's originality. Here's a Fellow with the ability to really transform into a true and terrifying beast and change back at will. This makes controlling him very difficult at best. Take your time and read this book and you won't be dissapointed in any way.

A masterpiece of late 80's horror.

William Schoell seems to be very prevalent in the horror genre, and he seems to be an underappreciated maestro of it; a Stephen King without the massive fanbase. Saurian may be his magnum opus, in which he takes a few ideas King began to develop in IT and reworks them in his own unique fashion. Someone must confront as an adult the horror they barely survived as a child, a shapeshifting disguised horror. But there all similarities end, as the title creature, the Saurian, operates on a less metaphysical level than Pennywise, King's demented clown-demon. The Saurian is, by and large, content to restrict his rampages to the here and now. And where Pennywise often taunts and antagonizes his prey, the Saurian affords no such mercy, no such chances a quick-witted hero can exploit. Anything that defies him, he simply destroys. But that does not mean he is a mindless beast. Far, far from it. I definitely recommend this, and everything else of Schoell's, as I've never read a bad book of his yet.

Another great book from William Schoell

William Schoell is simply unappreciated great horror writer, some of his books are much better than what Stephen King ever wrote. Here, an huge, ancient, alien beast kills everfything in its path, only a small boy survives. Later on, while being an adult, he must face the beats once more. Original and thrilling. You get hooked right from the beginning.

The power of "Saurian"...

The mastery of William Schoell over detail and power of words just grabbed and shook me. I recommend this book to anyone who wants to be scared a little and almost convinced that what they are reading is really going on. There is no way to compare the intensity of "Saurian" to anything else because there are no books like it. The final confrontation with The Beast as it stampedes along the pier is one of the greatest parts. I would be the first in line if "Saurian" were made into a motion picture. Although it would lose some of it's intensity, it would gain some through the graphics available to the movie industry. That's all I have to say about that.

This book was the all out best book I have ever read.

This book was great. After reading this book I have been looking for his other books...for about three years! I have only found 1 more book of his though. I read this book, told my friends, and all of a sudden, my entire school was reading it! If William Schoell is reading this, (unlikely) please make another book!
