I had private tutoring for the verbal part of the SAT and i completely neglected the math. I picked up this book and did the math part only, it made so much sense to me. Bottom line, with no other preparation i got 1 wrong and left 1 blank on the math section on the SAT...an 800. I regret not doing the verbal, i got a 700 and i'm sure this book will raise my verbal by the next time i take the SAT.
Solid review, if you already know what you're doing

This is essentially a workbook of hard problems, although there is some strategy thrown in. Most of the verbal problems are harder than you'll see on the actual SAT, so if you practice with these you're in for a pleasant surprise. The math problems are about on par difficulty-wise with the last few problems on an SAT math section. After using the book, my verbal improved 30 points, to an 800, and my math went down 20 points, to a 720. Obviously, there were other factors besides me doing this book that could be confounded here in the months in between administrations. Once you reach a certain point, there's a fair amount of variability in your scores from test to test since the difference between a 750 and 800 is only a few questions. If you're scoring high, going through the general prep books only wastes your time and the strategies can even make things more difficult. I also did the $150 SAT: Target 1600 online course on Kaplan's website, and this is - I think - just as good. If you're not already solid on how to approach and solve problems though, this book might not be very helpful.
