Very enjoyable historical western romance

From the back cover: Sweet enemy mine... Broken and bitter, Deke Bonner was bound and determined to bring the lawless Dalton Gang to justice, and he would--as soon as he could take his eyes off their feisty sister. With more sass than sense, Sara Dalton set out to honor her mother's dying wish. But to bring her desperado brothers home, she was forced to team up with a dangerously virile enemy. An ornery bounty hunter and a fiery hellcat, Deke and Sara were mismatched from the start. Yet they were both highly mistaken if they thought they'd get out of Indian Territory without sharing love's sweet bounty. And my review: I almost didn't buy this book, as the rather scandalous cover was a little off-putting. But since it was on sale, I decided to give it a try. Boy, was I glad that I did. This book was very good. There were just so many things to like about it. First off, the characters were very likeable. All of them. That's rare in a romance novel these days. Sara was a strong, fiesty woman without being a shrew or a spoiled brat. Deke was a strong man without being a domineering jerk. Having two strong characters who are both so loveable in the same book is such a treat. Also, they way the author had them grow from hating each other to loving each other was so well done that you never felt like it didn't work. The author didn't rely on just sexual attraction to keep her characters together, either, which is another rare treat. Often, romance novels today are more 'falling in lust' stories, than 'falling in love' stories. But not with this book. It was very romantic. This author's writing style has a very nice flow to it. It's easy to read, and her descriptions are so vivid that you feel like you are really there, yet they never feel overly wordy. Also, this author didn't head-hop, which is so rare. Every scene was written from only one person's point-of-view. There was none of that annoying switching from one person's thoughts to another's and back again. The balance between romance and plot was also well done. Often, I find that the romance is sacrificed for the sake of the action, or vise vera. That didn't happen here. But don't get me wrong, the action was great, and at many times, it kept me glued to the pages. And this book was full of laugh-out-loud moments. The way it ended was also very enjoyable without being too syrupy-sweet. I will certainly try other books by this author. While this wasn't a can't-put-it-down book, it was still well worth the read, and I do recommend it.
