A Little House Christmas - special and heartwarming!

I love all of the Little House stories ( both the books and picture books, as well as the wonderful television series), and this is one of my favorites. I'm so glad to be finally able to share it with my almost 5-year-old daughter. In this story, Laura and Mary are disheartened to find the weather wet and dreary, with no sign of snow...and that means no Santa Claus. This is explained is such a charming way: "Didn't he have his reindeer?"Laura asked. "You know he couldn't,"Mary said. "There isn't any snow." So the sisters resign themselves to a Christmas without presents from Santa, and no visit from Mr. Edwards (Pa's good friend)because of the rising creek. But they find that miracles can and do happen...Santa travels with a pack-mule in the Southwest, and courageous and kind Mr. Edward crosses the creek! This is a charming Christmas story to be shared with young children - it harks back to a simpler time when children's expectations were so much more realistic and down-to-earth (as compared to the over commercialization of Christmas these days). Reading about Laura and Mary's heartfelt joy and gratitude at receiving tin cups, candy, cakes, and a penny (imagine, an entire new penny for each!) is sobering indeed. I consider this a classic Christmas book!

Darling!

Loved this book! I've always been a Little House fan, and this particular story, my favorite. It's fun to have this Christmas story in picture book format to enjoy with little ones during the holiday season.

Santa comes to little house

I like this book because it talks about how there are three girls that are waiting for Santa. I would buy this book because it's a nice and gentle book and how this man was friendly to these people I would say this book is for 4 year olds to 11 year olds.
