At times dickensian, with touches of Gerald Seymour and P.C.Wren, a real joy! (quite mature boy's own approach)... what Blyton did not wrote about... but where you must upgrade somehow in time. In fact William/Violet seem the natural progression after Richmal Crompton's tales if you know what I mean... A Wilbur Smith "made in the UK" kind of book (or perhaps south of Spain...). Sadly overlooked by a lot of readers. RECOMMENDED ADB
