'Sams Teach Yourself Microsoft Small Business Server in 21 Days', gives the reader a hands-on guide to installing and managing Microsoft's Small Business Server (SBS) product. This description may be from another edition of this product.
I've been reading the book in order to find out wheter SBS suited the need of my company. I must say that Harry Brelford understands how to communicate hardcore SBS knowledge to a novice like me. The book covers SBS 4.5 going through the different features in a manner, that gives good basic knowledge how to implement SBS 4.5. A very readable book, written with the touch of humor that keeps you reading instead of falling asleep. Good job.

After months of searching through whitepapers and the MS website for information on SBS 4.5, I was in a bit of a panic as the installation date was drawing near. Then I found Harry's book - what a relief! Written in plain old english, this book guided me through the entire installation and gave me the confidence and knowledge I needed to both install and administer the system. I would recommend that anyone about to tackle an SBS installation - don't do anything until you purchase this book.
Great Place to Get Started

This book is the perfect starting point for SBS. Anyone installing SBS for the first time should read the entire book before installing. Although this book doesn't provide a wealth of information for serious trouble-shooting (and no matter how easy MS has made SBS you will have issues you'll need to address) it will get you up and running with a stable and reliable solution for most small businesses. Although the book seems to address consultants and others doing multiple installs at several different locations, anyone who wants to install SBS and is comfortable with NT can do it. This book presents SBS as an easy option and is the best starting point for SBS, bar none.
Complete Walk Thru of Small Business Server

This is an excellent book and a enjoyable read. You are taken thru a complete setup of SBS in a fictional setting, learning along the way. Many words of wisdom coming from Mr.Brelsford's vast experience. Because of the many applications in SBS, in depth info on a particular app will need to be obtained from the appropriate dedicated book, such as SQL or Exchange. After reading this book, you will have a very good understanding of SBS and some advanced configurations. It has made me much more confident in recommending SBS to clients, and my ability to set in up right the first time!
What the SBS owner (or consultant) really needs
Published by Thriftbooks.com User , 25 years ago
Microsoft Small Business Server is a product that is easy to install and maintain. If you know what you're doing, that is. Most small businesses do not have dedicated technical people to administer their systems, and most consultants do not understand this product or the small business environment. Harry Brelsford understands, and has written the perfect book for both the SBS owner and the consultant who wants to work with small businesses. In the 21-day format, Harry breaks each day into (of course) morning and afternoon sessions. Morning sessions cover the basics; afternoons cover more advanced topics (like what consultants are supposed to know). Along the way he gives tips and tricks that come from experience, as well as a smile or two. Not to mention the lunches - guest speakers and even a couple of good recipes. All in all, a must-have for all those working with Small Business Server 4.5.
