Describes the samplers stitched by girls in colonial America and explains what these samplers tell about the lives of their makers. Includes simple projects. This description may be from another edition of this product.
This brief and well-illustrated book captivated my 8 year-old and me. Together we learned some basic crewel stitches, and my daughter went on to create a lovely yet simple miniature altar cloth for a book report about 'Josefina' from the American Girl Series. It remains a staple in the how-to section of our bookshelf. It's a wonderful way for a mother and child to spend time together reading, learning and stitching.
