A wonderful bed-time book

This was one of our favorite bed-time reads. It's so easy to read this out-loud in a magical, calming, quiet voice and really set the tone. One of the girls' favorites from age 3 up.

Ignore the sourpuss

Ignore the sourpuss who has had too little literature in her life. This book is wonderful and, yes, magical, and even my young daughters understood that one wouldn't really try to feed a wild deer. By the way - we "urbanites" probably have more close encounters with deer these days than country folk.

Beautiful!

Yeah, you can say that the story is unrealistic, but so what! This a beautiful dream story. It is enchanting and I am sure I will share it with my students. It will be so fun! What a great fantasy, Enjoy!

From a child to an adult...

I was read this book as a child in an elementary school classroom. As anyone knows, in an elementary school classroom, a teacher may read up to three books a day to her students. Out of all the books I was read through my elementary school "career", I am still amazed at this book. Although it is unrealistic, it is magical and the illustrations are fantastic. Just seeing the pictures again makes me feel like a little kid. Out of hundreds of books that were read to me, I remember this book. If you have an imagination and are able to let go of reality and enjoy a good book, this is an excellent read.

This is a story about a girl who woke up in the night

A little girl wakes up and hears a noise. She goes downstairs and pours salt on her hands. When she goes outside she sees a deer. She does not want to scare the deer. If you like night stories, read this book.
