Saint Juan Diego (Ess)

(Part of the Encounter the Saints (#14) Series and Encounter the Saints (#14) Series)

It was to Juan Diego--a humble Aztec farmer living in 16th century Mexico--that Mary, the Mother of God, first introduced herself to the world as Our Lady of Guadalupe. He spent much of his life in prayer and penance, and took care of the little chapel by his hut. There, he would greet the pilgrims who came to honor their Mother of Guadalupe and show them the miraculous "tilma," or cloak, that preserves Mary's beautiful image.

Very informational

This book really breaks down what happened and how it happened. There is so much detail about the Blessed Mother's appearance and what everything meant in regards to the garments she wore and how she appeared to the Indians. If you want to learn about Our Lady of Guadalupe and get enough information that does not overwhelm you, this is the book.
