Roll on the floor, Cry your eyes out funny

I've read this book about three or four times now and I can safely say that it is the absolute funniest piece of Church humour I've ever read.Scratch that. This is THE funniest book I've ever read. The first time I read it, I was rolling on the floor and crying. My wife and I will still sometimes just pick it up and start reading bits from it to each other for a few minutes of hilarity.I cannot recommend it highly enough.Your enjoyment will be greatly increased if you've spent time attending an evangelical church. It also helps to know that the book was written by a Brit and includes a number of references to people and practices that may be lost on those not from the UK.Buy this book. It may not change your life but it'll be sure to give you a much needed break from your read through Calvin's "Institutes".

God is nice and He likes you.

Adrian Plass manages to communicate the simple--and most profound truths--while making us laugh at ourselves. This is a book that I read at least once a year. In the midst of all of our "working for the Lord," Plass reminds us that first and foremost, God was us to KNOW Him. After all, "God is nice and He likes us."

Honest and Funny Mirror of Real Church Life

Honest book. Too direct for some? On my opinion, one of the best contemporary Christian books. It simply describes Evangelical Church Life. In a funny way. But be careful. You should have humour.. In the beginning, I had regarded the book as nearly blasphemous: when becoming a Christian I regarded my Church as perfect and did not want to see the human error we all commit. All my Christian friends like it and it's a good laugh and makes us think. As a Chrstian, a book I do not want to miss.

AMAZING!

well i have read this book soo many times - and no matter how many times i read it, it still continues to have me in stitches of laughter imagining Adrian doing such hilarious things e.g. trying to order a paper clip to move, and him making sure that there isn't anything wrong with him before he goes to a 'healing' meeting! And the continous anagrams that Gerald his son comes up with are great! If you are a christian and have not read this book - you are missing out big time!

Ranks next to the Bible in greatness!

I just finished The Sacred Diary for the fifth time. The verdict was in the first time through, but life seems to brighten so much more on subsequent readings that it has now become part of my daily quiet time (jk). I have loaned my copy to over 40 people, every one of whom raved about it, but I finally loaned it out once too often and it never came back. Thanks to a friend who loaned me his copy, I was able to reattach myself to this excellent read. What I can't understand is why the book is unavailable, at least in the States and so far here in Singapore. I've never seen a book with more popular appeal and yet 40 people are forced to read the same copy of the book. When will a bigger publisher grab this book up and distribute it as it should be?All I can say is that this book will get at the funny bone of all Christians (except, perhaps, the Mrs. Flushpools). But it will also help you shake off some of those rags of religion that you were never intended to wear.Plass summarizes the gospel succinctly: God is nice and He likes you. Let's not complicate it more than we have to. Start by reading this book.
