I cannot say enough good things about this book! I first read it in April of 2008 while my husband and I were still Seventh-day Adventists. We had already realized Ellen G. White (the founding prophet of the SDA Church) was a false prophet, but we continued on in the church because of the 7th-day Sabbath. We thought that doctrine was air-tight . . . and then I read "Sabbath in Christ" and our whole theological world turned upside down. Praise the Lord! Since that time we have left the SDA Church (which we now consider a Christian cult like Mormonism or the Jehovah's Witnesses) along with my husband's job as a teacher in the Adventist high school system. One of the features I love most about the book is the scriptural index at the back of the book. Every Bible text that Dale references in the book is listed back there, and believe me, he is thorough! While every page is an awesome, in-depth, yet readable Bible study, I'll briefly list a FEW of the discoveries that helped me see the truth. 1) The Sabbath was the sign of the Old Covenant (ie: Mosaic, Sinaitic, law). The sign of the New Covenant, however, is the Lord's supper. If you doubt this, read the book and see the solid scriptural (and historical) support for yourself. 2) Circumcision was the entrance sign into the Jewish covenant community. When it was done away with at the Jerusalem Council (Acts 15), implicit in that decision was that Sabbath was done away as well. 3) The rest spoken of in Hebrews 4:9---sabbatismos---cannot be the 7th day Sabbath. It is a "today" (everyday!) experience when we enter into the rest of grace, which is found only in the person of Jesus Christ. I must share that after nearly 30 years in Adventism (and 12 years in SDA schools), I first learned the gospel while reading Dale Ratzlaff's "Sabbath in Christ." I still remember with thankfulness the tears that rolled off my cheeks as I read the book for the first time. I had never know that "good news" was indeed SO GOOD! If I had the money, I would buy a copy for every SDA (and evangelical Christian!) who would be willing to read it. I have been appalled to come in contact with many mainstream Christians lately who appeal to both the 10 Commandments and Creation to support Christians keeping a Sabbath. If they are appealing to the 10 Commandments, then I wonder why they aren't SDAs. Noted theologian D.A. Carson wrote the foreword to the original book titled "Sabbath in Crisis." (Dale expanded and retitled the book several ago). On the back cover, there is a really nice plug by Pastor John MacArthur, as well as from the leadership of the Worldwide Church of God. Significantly, this book played a role in helping the leadership of WCG abandon their Sabbatarian beliefs in the early-mid 90s. They actually bought cases of "Sabbath in Crisis" to send to all their pastors when they embraced the New Covenant and began changing the denomination's core beliefs. I cannot say enough that I really, HIGHLY recom
The Sabbath Points to Christ

Dale Ratzlaff is a fourth-generation Seventh-day Adventist and a former pastor within this group before He found the truth in Christ and left the SDA church. He claims he had to depart the SDA because of the truth he discovered in the Bible. He found hope and life in the grace of God. He maintains that our Sabbath rest is found in the person and work of Jesus Christ; the effectual outworking of cross is the focus of this inductive study on the Sabbath. The author provides: - The true doctrine of the New Testament Sabbath - The place of Law - The position and power of the gospel This is an outstanding examination of SDA doctrine on the Sabbath and a significant instrument for Christians seeking to reach SDA members with the grace and truth of the gospel. There Are Moral Absolutes: How to Be Absolutely Sure That Christianity Alone Supplies
A Profound Book

This is a wonderful book. I have a BA in theology and thought I knew a little bit about the old and new covenants, but I really didn't know anything. This man has done a fantastic job of studying, and uses Bible texts to simply explain the Bible. It is incredible as he compares and contrasts them - the law being a shadow of Christ to come. Then it makes so much sense the different way Jesus related to the ritual law and the moral law in the gospels - it is amazing. Because the ritual law pointed to Christ, He often ignored it as He touched the sick, the dead and told the man to carry his bed on the Sabbath. But Jesus expanded the moral precepts as He said if one was angry at their brother, it was as though he killed him. That is just the beginning of an enlightening book.
