Marie Louise, the brown mongoose, runs away after her mother spanks her for being naughty. This description may be from another edition of this product.
I read this book to my children years ago and kept this one and Mary Louise's Heyday because they were special favorites. Now I read it to my 3 year old grandson and he loves it too. I'm glad to see the books are still available.
MY DAUGHTER'S FAVORITE

There is no way to discribe when a child falls in love with a book - and this one was my daughter's. She read it over and over again and cried. She loves this book and requested it for Christmas this year because her other one fell apart. That is the best review I can give.
A Beautiful Story

This was one of my favorite books growing up! The illustrations are adorable and filled my head with thoughts of faraway places. I liked to imagine what a peanut butter and jellyfish sandwich (like Marie Louise eats) would taste like, and being an animal lover, I loved seeing the many parents and their families that the little mongoose encounters on her journey to find a new Mama or Papa. Also has a very sweet ending!
Map Marie Louise's Journey

Runaway Marie Louise is an excellent story to use when introducing story mapping to students. The little mongoose travels to several memorable sites with alliterative names and characters, finally ending up at home. Students can map out the story illustrating the boggy, soggy swamp and the squirmy, wormy spot creating an attractive and informative summary of the story.
