I have not finished this book yet, but so far I have really enjoyed it. I didn't want to put it down, but did so reluctantly when my eyes could hardly stay open anymore. I bought it to take with me on vacation this week - I may finish it before I leave town!! :) Great job, Tyler! You are a beautiful woman with a beautiful book! P.S. The ending was a little frustrating to me...will there be a sequel? But overall, very good.
Couldn't put it down...

Once I started reading I couldn't put Ruby Rest down. Even when I told myself, "just one more chapter", I couldn't stop reading. Tyler Oaks has a way of keeping you glued and is very clever in the way that she keeps you guessing and trying to figure out "whodunit"! She is an artist who paints a beautiful picutre of Austria and Carmel - I felt as though I was there.

This book was almost impossible to put down. It is very intriging, humorous and engaging. The complexity of the story line is filled with many surprizes and I enjoyed the search she sends her reader on. Very well done and I look foward to the next book!

Tyler Oaks demonstrates a superbly gifted style as a storyteller in her debut novel "Ruby Rest", a mystery that compels the total attention of the reader from first page to last. Edda Taylor lost her lover who drowned under mysterious circumstances. This leads Edda to settle in the California community of Ruby Rest in a rundown cottage she inherited and intends to restore. The she encounters two men who seem interested in her. The first is Tace, hired to design her garden. The second is Shay who is her employer. When Edda turns her attention to exploring the history of Ruby Rest, she finds that there is a history of mysterious drownings -- and both these men had ties to the victims. Engaging and compelling plot

This plot is engaging and immediately whisked me away into the story. The descriptions in the book are vivid and thorough. Taking the time to read them slowly is rewarding (I tend to read very quickly and miss details sometimes). The book really comes alive. It is like watching a movie in my mind, and that aspect of the book reminds me of Tolkien. I wish the publisher had given her more time in the end to draw out the conclusion of the book. It was a very fulfilling ending, but I wanted it to last longer. I can't wait for her next novel.
