The author of A Hummingbird in My House relates another true account of a hummingbird who took winter refuge in her upstate New York house. This time her visitor was a female Rufous hummingbird that was 2,000 miles from its home.
I loved the book. I love birds and have zebra finches that i allow to fly free in my home. They are entertaining and cute. The book was great. I really enjoy hummingbirds and miss them. I moved to Bend, OR eight years ago and hardly see any. I used to live in the SF Bay Area and hummers are plentiful there. Arnette's book was definately touching and I admire her love for the little birds. My favorite part of the story was her account of how little precious Rosie loved to bathe. I was truly amazed how Arnette was able to provide ample food for Rosie. Her experience with the hummingbirds is a rare life event and something that she'll never forget. Although I was saddened at Rosie's spring release, it was for her best and I can only hope there are more people out there with the resources and love to care for stray or wounded creatures.

She got me hooked on the story of Squeak. Then she slayed me with Rosie. More information, all well researched and documented, very interesting and then the killer....more wonderful photos that make you wish you were there. I can't wait to read her next book. Yes, I'm still feeding my hummers. I'm up to 15 feeders now. I'm also getting my family into it too. Thank You Mrs. Heidcamp!
