Gordon Ferguson takes the reader through the wonderful, grace-filled book of Romans. This book was a refreshing book to read in light of the vast changes in the former International Churches of Christ. Thankfully the words that Ferguson wrote in ROMANS: THE HEART SET FREE truly is setting many free from the bonds of legalism. The positives of this book are that the book takes the reader chapter by chapter through the book of Romans. Further it is written by a man who desires to be a true disciple of Jesus. He is not writting a book to make money but to teach the Scriptures and you sense that as you read. He will take other avenues that many other commentaries will not take in viewing Romans. The only two negatives I have of the book are that the biblical text used is the New International Version. The NIV is the best of the non-literal translations but I would have liked the book more if literal translations would have been used. Secondly, is that the book was not deep in theology. However, this book is not written for theologians but for the average disicple. So I didn't take off any points for this. Overall this is a solid book on Romans. Ferguson is a good writer and even more he desires to see hearts set free. May God use this book to set more hearts free by His matchless grace.
