Another wonderful Eyewitness Book

The whole DK Eyewitness Books series represents a treasure for young readers. Whatever the subject, one gets a little background and context as well as subject-by-subject discussion, providing considerable depth of information for the younger reader. The book begins with an introduction noting the age and nature of the planet Earth. Also in the brief opening section is a rendering of different types of rocks and minerals, such as gemstones, sedimentary rocks, seashore pebbles, and igneous rocks. This would be helpful for young readers to provide some basic vocabulary. There follow discussions of rock formations and weathering and erosion. Then, a variety of rocks and minerals are explored. Later, the use of rocks and minerals is considered. As always, a nice resource for young readers.

Perfect for young children.

My son is six years old and this book captivated him for a good four nights, a few pages a night, for his bedtime story. It is very visually appealing with vividly colored pictures and thick glossy pages. It is written very well, easy for a young child to understand, yet filled with information about rocks and minerals. I have to read it to my child as he's not an independent reader yet, but an independent reader would also really enjoy this book. It is made for children but not at all "babyish." A great way to either learn about rocks and minerals, or introduce a child to non fiction. I'm very impressed with this book and will be purchasing more DK Eye Wonder titles. I've looked at their other titles and they all look like wonderful books.

Exactly what I expected

This book is easy to ready and understand. The photos are clear and the content is great. My son takes this book everyplace and shares it with friends who also enjoy it. This book doesn't dissapoint.

Good book

I knew nothing about rocks before I bought it for my 5 year old rock fanatic... now we both know a little more... It is well written and the pictures are gorgeous.

Very Educational

This book shows tons of different kinds of rocks. Very great if your child likes rocks or if you want to read up on the subject.
