Rock, Brock and the Savings Shock Rocks!

This book is very entertaining and very educational at the same time. My five year old daughter loves it! She wants me to read it to her over and over again. It also encouraged her to save whatever money she gets or finds.

"I want" vs. I need"

I bought 3 copies of this book one for each household of grandchildren ages 3-6. I thought the lesson of saving and spending were well illustrated in colors and text. I don't know if the grandchildren understood the charts at the back of the book but they, especially the 6 year-olds, grasped the lesson of spending foolishly versus spending wisely and saving.

Financial Inspiration!

Excellent & educational for children & their own finances. In todays economy it makes sense to educate children on finances as well as intelligent decisions made in life as well..The Author has captured the adventurous minds of a child in a world that they can relate to & focus on to better themselves and their own little worlds.Highly recommend this to anyone with children or grandchildren willing to learn what reality brings in the world of finances.

Rutgers University Project on Economics and Children

Twin brothers Rock and Brock had adopted very different lifestyle habits, with Rock favoring a healthy and disciplined approach, while Brock preferred junk food and less structure. However, when it came to money, Rock could not resist spending every dime that came his way on new toys and gizmos, while Brock had an uncanny ability to save. Both brothers learned an important lesson when their grandpa gave them a dollar and said that for the next ten weeks, he would double the total that each brother was able to save. While Rock squandered his money, Brock's money grew to a crateful of cash. With its bright, humorous illustrations, this important book adds some fun to the business of saving money. The straightforward story line teaches younger children how money can grow through a savings plan, while the notes in the back offer more sophisticated explanations of banking and compound interest. The author, one of the most influential women in the world of finance, successfully translates some economic fundamentals into a story that children will appreciate and enjoy.

Great Surprise!

I bought this as a baby shower gift for a friend whose boy baby name is Brock. I wasn't thinking too much of it from what I saw, but when I got it I was pleasantly surprised. It is a great rhyming tale of two twins, and how one saves while the other spends. Really cute! I especially liked how the last two pages give a comparison of how money compounds and gives advice to kids on how to save. As a parent and a teacher, I highly recommend this book to share with children to teach monetary values!
