As a regular weekend visitor to Rangeley and an avid snowmobiler, I was dumbfounded when we inadvertently rode right by the 'Seven Gulpers' !Of course then, I had to search for the 'Stress & Rest' and the beaver pond. Having the setting be real added so much to the suspense....

Ever read a book that you couldn't put down?Well that was the case for me with River of Fear, Book One: Encounters by Rod Davis. I wanted to find out what would happen next so I kept reading and reading to the end. I usually read non-fiction so this was a delightful diversion. It may sound silly, but I truly enjoyed the details that Rod presented which personalized the characters to me and created in me the ability to clearly visualize the scenes. For instance, instead of saying that `they made a pot of coffee', it was written that the character `brewed Gevalia's Stockholm Roast' (which my husband and I also drink from time to time). I "saw" the familiar box, the lettering, the gold foil bag inside it, etc., etc.My request to the author is this: Please publish book two!! I need to find out what happens next!
Start reading this book and you willnot want to put it down.

Having lived and hunted in the new england area for many years this well told mystery intrigued me in the first few pages. The paranormal things that occur around and to this couple make you wonder if you should walk, or snowmobile in the Maine woods alone these days. The writing is good and it keeps you on the edge of the questions "What was that all about?" and "What do I do now?" The author must have experienced these things because he discribes them so well. Make you wonder what will happen next.

This book was the most exciting book I have read in years. I have not read a book to the end in years, and this one I couldn't put down, until it was finished. It holds your attention, right to the end, and keeps you yearning for more. Living in the area of the book, is even more profound. People have talked about this for years, this book puts you right in the heart of woods of Maine. I can't wait for the next book to arrive!!!
A page turner that will just not let go......
