Health, Beauty, and Self-Improvement

I thoroughly enjoyed this absolutely wonderful book. Lisa was straight-forward with advice and information. In her career, she has tried tons of products and gives her advice on what works for her, what doesn't, and why. She provides very specific information. It is so full of specific guidance, so in-depth, so brutally honest. I think this book is very useful to women. Although it begins as a health and beauty guide, it is so much more. In walking with Lisa on her personal journey, you learn the importance of many of the steps she has chosen as well as the rewards and lessons she has received. Rinnavation begins with a 7-page forward by husband Harry, who tells you about Lisa and how and why he fell in love with her. Lisa follows with an introduction, telling you about herself and how, at age 38 and after having 2 children, she felt unattractive, dried up, and dead. She expresses that she transferred those feelings to the people around her. As Lisa said, she had it all but she was in a huge rut. She also admits that she had never been a "happy" person. Lisa grew up with encouraging and supporting parents who told her she could do anything. She read tons of self-help and motivational books, explored various spiritual practices, and even saw a therapist for 11 years. Finally, she realized that she had to fix herself and a lap-dancing class was her catapult. Wild as it sounds, the class helped her break forward and then the self-help books she had stored in her memory bank kicked in. She realized that all the negative self talk and negative thoughts she had indulged in for so many years were holding her back on a personal level. She experienced a metamorphosis. She mentions how even a little thing can make a huge difference toward changing your life, and the change always begins with a positive outlook, which can have a huge domino effect on the person. In this book, Lisa provides a distilled version of her best-practices from decades of experiences with beauty, diet, exercise, and fashion routines. Lisa discusses her experiences with the Atkins diet, the Blood Type diet, Zone meals, and the Fit for Life diet plan. She names specific foods, such as berries, yogurt, and many others, and explains what eating them does for your hair, skin, etc. These are plain simple foods and she provides explanations for each food/food type. She discusses and provides recipes for smoothies, cleansing drinks, food supplements, herbs and supplements. She provides her personal 7-day detox plan to get started quickly. Lisa continues with exercise information--Billy Bank's Tae Bo, Winsor Pilates, yoga, etc. She names specific beauty treatments she uses. She covers fashion and even gives some pointers on sex, on her experiences with postpartum depression, motherhood, spirituality, and the importance of positive thinking. When I selected this book, I knew NOTHING about Lisa Rinna. I watch almost no TV anymore, so I never saw her on "Days of

I cannot say enough good things about this book. Full of great beauty secrets that famous women never share. Lisa really is an honest person and makes you feel like she is just a normal women and not a stuffy hollywood snob. It is a fun read.

Great Book!

I think Lisa Rinna was fabulous since I first saw her in "Dancing With The Stars". Her terrific energy, vibrancy and joyful glow really stood out to me. She also danced really well. When her book came along, "Rinnavation", I definitely wanted to read it. The book was equally wonderful. Lisa shared her personal life with us without pretension. She was honest, open and made me respect her even more. She gave great tips from makeup, fashion and diet, to her personal struggles. Lisa opened up to us that she is human too. She divulged about her marriage to Harry Hamlin and other personal matters. Harry and Lisa are beautiful people, but they aren't the supercilious Hollywood elites. They are approachable and I think that is why they are so beloved by the rest of us. Her down-to-earth charm radiated in this book. Lisa also has a funny sense of humor i.e. the haughty club she went to, only to be escorted to what was essentially a closet, until her friends arrived! I love that Lisa is true to herself in this book and in life. Be it fashion, hair, what have you, she is herself. She gives tips that can save you money too, like the kitty litter, (you've got to read that one). There are photos of her and her family, including a rather zesty fun one of a cake. This book was a fun read and just solidified my fondness for Lisa. Lisa danced into my heart and now she has also penned herself there too!

A really positive book

This is probably one of the most useful self-help books I've read in a while. The book covers just about everything - diet, exercise, spirituality, beauty tips, fashion, relationship advise - all without spending too much time on any one subject so that you get bored with it. She names books she's read, products she uses, quick recipes she makes - all in a way that's kind of like reading a magazine article. If you want to know any more about any of the subjects, you can easily find one of the books she's read or the products she talks about. Lisa seems to have a really positive attitude about everything and it really comes across in this book.

Great Book

Lisa Rinna Does a great job at giving advice on how to enjoy life and look great while you are doing it. She write really well and I found this book very enjoyable and informative.
