A fine book

This is an excellent book if you are in doubt of the New Testament. It is a good book anyway, if you are looking for answers to doubters. J. B. Phillips was a correspondent of C. S. Lewis during the Second World War. Phillips, a Greek scholar, first translated Paul's letters for the young people he was working with in the Home Guard. He called this book Letters to Young Churches. Then he translated the New Testament. This is his story of the adventure of reading the Christian scriptures in the language in which they were written. The result of this journey was to see that it was all true because it rang true from beginning to end. Probably no one but Christians should read this book, doubters of Thomas' kind leading the way. Atheists would be insulted by this book. It tells of experiences they have not had.

If your faith is wavering, or you're looking for confidence

...this is the book for you. A slim volume full of wisdom. The author, in his task of translating the New Testament from Greek to English, experienced many serendipitous moments that pointed him to the truth of the Gospel accounts.
