Excellent review of spiritual leadership principles
Published by Thriftbooks.com User , 20 years ago
This book is one of the most thought provoking treatises on Christian leadership principles I have ever read. Realize that the author is a member of the Church of Jesus Christ (Mormon). The book is aimed at that audience and uses as the basis of this exposition Section 121 of the Doctrine and Covenants (Mormon scripture). So if you will be offended by this, the book is not for you. That said, the author is a talented scholar who writes this like a Stephen Covey book on management principles. And by the way, the author is the son of apostle L. Tom Perry and wrote the words to the sacrament hymn "As now we take the Sacrament". I made a page of notes and quotes to use from this book and it is only a little over 100 pages. The author uses diverse sources from CS Lewis to management gurus. I especially appreciate the personal stories and stories he learned from others in his extensive church service. His background as a Business Management Professor molds this work into a kind of leadership handbook. Overall, I expanded my understanding of leadership principles, section 121, and the position of the Savior more from this book than most other "church" books I have read. I especially recommend it for anyone in Priesthood leadership positions.
