Dave Barr is an extraordinary human being to say the least. Despite the loss of both legs, very limited budget and an old 1972 Harley-Davidson motorcycle, he traversed six continents, covered 83,000 miles spent 3 1/2 years, crossed the Sahara, Namib and Gobi Deserts and circled the world both north to south and east to west and takes us along with him in the book. His exciting journey to raise awareness for people with disabilities is inspirational to us all, with or without disabilities. Also his sometimes humorus outlook on the diverse culture of the world, from the seat of a Harley, is an interesting anthropological study. I wanted to pack my sadlebags and go with him.

After meeting Dave at the H-D 95 th. anniv. in Jun 98. I bought the book and was so impressed with this man. I cannot whine about anything! I wrote Dave thereafter and we spoke on the phone. I can't understand why he is having difficulty raising money for his foundation? In my own small way Im trying to help. A must read for anyone who is stuck!
Super Dave

Dave Barr is not only a great adventurer and author, he is my next-door-neighbor. Seriously, I was so inspired by his books, that after reading his second book "Riding The Ice", I created a web site for him.
