Ride the Airwaves

Excellent book. Our family is studying to pass the technical license exam and have found the clear diagrams, explanations, and material organization in this book to be far superior to that of the class-issued book (which primarily focuses on the exam questions and then explains the answers).I wish we had something comparable for the general class license!

This is the best book out there!!!!

I have to say that this is the best book out there! I am thirteen years old and I got my tech plus in 3 weeks and now am operating 2 meters. I highly recommend this book for any one. This book kind of hides the high concentration level required for this exciting hobby by having fun. It is like little comic strips and then a small quiz after each lesson. It is the best buy I have made in a while other than my radio. Without this book I would not have my license so I wouldn't be eligible for a radio! I would like to thank my mom, dad, WD4ITU, KB6MT, and the author of this book K6YB. P.S. If you live in TX I opperate on the repeater 146.96 alot. I took amateur radio classes using another book, not John Abbott's "Ride the Airwaves with Alpha & Zulu", and found the other book most difficult to understand. (My electrical knowledge has mainly been --- turn the light on, push the switch up, turn the light off, push the switch down). I was not able to absorb the material even though my husband was one of the teachers. When I finished the classes, I did not even attempt to take the exam. Some months later my husband introduced me to Alpha & Zulu and it opened another world to me. Because of the cartoon characters, I was able to relate the material to Alpha and Zulu, etc. I have always been a fan of cartoons and Alpha & Zulu helped me tremendously. ride the airwaves with alpha & zulu

Hi, again, John Abbott has again produced a "SUPER" book that will assist those non-technical types, kids, and (older) kids (chuckle) open the door to Amateur Radio. I have used each of his A & Z texts since they first came out. Each time, my students and adults use it new Hams result. Amateur Radio is a great activity for ALL! Others who publish manuals should take a lesson from John and realize everyone does not have to be a tech'y to enjoy the fruitful activities of Amateur Radio. School starts in late August, 2000 for me. Alpha & Zulu will be on my desk and at the radio table. It will shown to my grade-6 class. It will become dog earred, written in, and studied by several of those eager minds. There will be more smiles at test time. There will be more Hams as a result.
