Wonderful rhyming

I give this book most of the credit for the fact that my 3 year old was the first in his pre-school class to understand rhyming. It's easy and fun to read with a lot of interesting animals (like kudus) and place names (like Saskatchewan). The beautiful illustrations add to its delight. This is easily my favorite book to read to the kids.

Best rhymes since Mother Goose

Of all the books we read together, and there were many by the time my daughter was enough of an under-the-blanket reader to finish them on her own sometime before breakfast, this one, like few others (Wind in the Willows, Secret Garden, for example) never wore itself out. Ride a Purple Pelican was a trusty cue for wonderful bedtimes! The back cover shows the splendid and heartbreaking image of a little boy on a silver stork in the sunset above the clouds, with the looming towers of the World Trade Center resolving into beautiful, grey sleep (sixteen years ago).

One of my kids all time favorites

My kids and i have read this book a hundred times, and it's still fresh and fun and full of wonder. Probably the best poem book there is.

A New Children's Classic

This is a great book! The rhymes are so good and memorable, adults will enjoy this book as much as their children. I would recommend this book to anyone.
