The Seinfeld of Women

Revelations in the Rearview Mirror: One Mother's Hard-Won and Hilarious Epiphanies on the Road to the Empty Nest This is a tour de force that turns the ordinary events of every day experience into first rate comedy with uncanny insights. You won't stop laughing.

Marvelous

So funny I hurt myself reading it. And the biggest compliment I can pay: if I'd read it earlier, the kids I helped raise would be better today.

Heart-Warming and Hysterical!

This book is a must for every mother, daugher, or individual who has been forced to take a road trip with the family. Ms. Parsley's words have a way of transporting the reader into her world and making her laugh, cringe, and laugh some more. From the hilarious family road trip tales to the beautiful final chapter written by her son, Ms. Parsley has written a book that readers will enjoy time and time again. Buy a few: it makes a great gift.

Elevating the Landscape of Contemporary Nonfiction

2001 marked a turning point in nonfiction. It was the year that Augusten Burroughs redefined the memoir with the release of "Running With Scissors." A few years later, in 2004, David Sedaris pushed the genre again with his collection of autobiographical essays, "Dress Your Family in Corduroy and Denim". 2009 promises to further elevate the landscape of contemporary nonfiction. It will undoubtedly be the year we come to remember as the year that Louise Parsley brought us "Revelations in the Rearview Mirror". In this collection of short personal essays, Parsley combines the self-deprecating humor of Sedaris (minus the eccentricity) with the cynicism and wit of Burroughs (minus the alcoholism), then throws in a few kids, a husband and a dozen or so in-law's (just for fair measure) to deliver her own unique style of laugh-out-loud comedy and pluck-at-your-heartstrings prose. From Bourbon-filled baby bottles to teenage driving debacles, Parsley's stories are bound to resonate with both mothers in the throes of maternal insanity and empty-nesters alike. But luckily for the rest of us, you don't necessarily have to be a mother (or a woman for that matter) to identify with the triumphs and failures of Parsley's everyday family life. "Revelations" does that thing that all good nonfiction is supposed to do---it somehow manages to cross boundaries imposed by gender and age and make the personal ephiphanies of one, relevant to all. With this collection of work, Louise Parsley proves that she can hang with the likes of Burroughs and Sedaris and reminds us, just as they have, that there's more humor in the mundane than meets the eye. So long as you're not afraid to laugh.

So great for new moms! Laughing OUT LOUD!

This is a must read for any new mom. I have a 7 week old and picked up Louise's book and have really enjoyed reading it - while feeding the baby. It makes me laugh and cry at the experiences she shares and what I imagine will be our similar life adventure with our little one. I have bought several copies to give as gifts for fellow new mom's and would recommend this highly. An easy read and heartwarming stories that will surely strike a chord in every reader.
