This book has been a good reflection about the book of Revelation in the Bible. It enhances well the bible study.

Revelation: not what you may have thought, but more.

I have used this book with a parish adult Bible study and recently purchased it for a group of High Schoolers who asked to use it rather than the "for teens" version also available. I cannot comment on the Teenage version but appreciate this Bible study becuase it takes the book of Revelation very seriously, but also cuts through the abundance of misinformation surrounding the Bible's mystical conclusion. Rooted in thorough sholarship, but thoroughly accessible, this book can help group and individual readers reckon with prophecies that have fascinated and horrified many people ever since they were first written. This Bible study's greatest strength lies in the author's attempt to ground contemporary interpretations of Revelation in the meaning that they book likely had for its earliest hearers.

The book of Revelations is an intimidating book. I had struggled through it before and had been left wondering what John was trying to say. Kevin Perrotta's "Revelation God's Gift of Hope" has been a great help in deciphering the symbolic language that John wrote in. The questions at the beginning and the end of each section are especially helpful in tying the reading to our lives today. This is an excellent guide for both individual and group study.
