This book is very well researched and written, written by a group of three in the field of mental health psychology. It goes beyond the surface and helps the researcher or reader to appreciate that there can be deep social issues involved in the mental health of a child, or teen, that ADHD is more than a chemical imbalance, and that there is much that can be done in the way of prevention, as well as with therapists, educators and parents, to help children to overcome symptoms of ADHD, (and adults for that matter), without resorting to the often times short-sighted approach of using stimulant medications. The books is excellent, even for someone not necessarily interested in ADHD, but who is studying child psychology or child psychiatry. It gives helpful insights from the many years of experience of this therapy team in treating children in Australia. Also, please see the book, Overcoming ADHD without Medication: A Parent's and Educator's Guidebook for some useful ideas for parents, teachers and principals. Provided by educators.
