It's the 1980s, and Janice is a stripper at the infamous Mitchell Brothers Theatre in San Francisco. Gullible, enthusiastic, and artistic, she wants her performances to make a poetic statement of defiance against her strict Italian Catholic upbringing. But she's hopelessly in love with her drug-addicted husband, Vance, and too sensitive for the abrasive environment of the sex industry. To be closer to Vance, she starts smoking heroin and before long begins using needles believing it will make her tougher. The sequential stories in Resurrections in the Dark follow Janice as she attempts to resurrect herself again and again from the dark world she's sunken into.
