Comfort for the 'wounded woman'

I strongly recommend this book to anyone who has experienced deep disappointment in life -- especially the 'wounded woman.' Without pushing any particular doctrine, Melinda Fish uses scripture and 'case histories' to help us remember God's love for us. Read this before you sink into cynicism.

It's okay to hurt, you can be healed

Melinda Fish openly discusses the pain and frustration women feel at not having their hopes fulfilled (albeit in a Christian context). What a relief to find that others were as hurt, disillusioned and desperate as I. I bought this book because I needed to be healed of heartache. Although directed to married women, single women can easily apply the principles to their own lives. I had the revelation that I had no right to be angry at God for not giving me something He'd never promised me. Melinda Fish talks to the reader in the voice of a friend, and is refreshingly open about her own disappointments. She also gives practical examples of heartbreak and how to deal with it.It is confronting to realise that sometimes you just have to accept that you can't always have what you want (curse freewill!), but comforting to know that its okay to be sick at heart and fed up with all the goodie goodies who don't understand your despair. There is hope.Probably if you want an objective intellectual analysis of the psychology of women, you won't like this book. If you are desperate to stop the ache in your chest and the sickness in your heart, this book is great. Sometimes the theory sounds a bit out there, and a couple of paragraphs can be a bit of heavygoing, but give Ms Fish the chance to explain herself - she does.
