A riveting book about the life of "America's Lawyer," Chesterfield Smith of Florida, written by Michael L. Jamieson, his prot g , colleague, and good friend for 39 years. It should not be missed by lawyers, law students, professors, students of the profession and professional leadership, and those interested in the role of the leader of the nation's organized bar during the Watergate era.
Being an architect, I thought this book about the legal profession just had to be dull, dry and just not interesting. I was wrong...I really enjoyed the personal stories of young men struggling in a profession and being mentored, and then mentoring others, which is typical of any true profession. I enjoyed the Tampa and Florida historical insights, the business aspects of the book, and the humor of Mr Jamieson. I couldn't put the book down...which really amazed this non-lawyer!
