Breath of fresh air

This is the clearest writing on Islam that I have ever read. The author shows, from the Koran and the biographical information on the prophet Muhammad (the hadiths and the Sira), that Islam is not a religion of peace. It is, and always has been, a religion of violence, conquest, and subjugation. President Bush's long-term strategy for combating terrorism is to replace the Islamic world's autocratic governments with democratic ones. But terrorism is just a means of waging Jihad, and flows naturally from the teaching of the Koran and the life of the Prophet. Terrorism and bad government are both consequences of Islam and the culture it has produced; they are both symptoms of Islam. Terrorism is not a result of bad government. For example, the London tube bombers, who killed 52 and injured 700, were all the products of the liberal, democratic government of Great Britain--three were native-born Britons, one who was born in Jamaica and moved to England at age 5 months. The idea that Islam is basically a peaceful religion whose adherents have been unlucky with their governments has led the U.S. into a potentially catastrophic long-term strategy: "Indeed, U.S. foreign policy even now is directed at encouraging pogular movements in the Islamic world at the expense of traditional dictatorships. One point apparently overlooked is that the popular opposition in these countries is invariably, uncompromisingly Islamic. However corrupt and unreliable the current dictatorships of Egypt, Pakistan, Syria, Jordan, and Saudi Arabia (and formerly Iraq), they are in some ways the only things standing between us and fully Islamic regimes in those countries. What Khomeini did in Iran in 1979 the United States may wind up accomplishing on a much broader scale: replacing unpopular, secular, authoritarian regimes with more popular, Islamic totalitarian ones. The current U.S. binge of pushing 'democracy' upon the House of Islam may yet prove one of the most disastrous political obsessions in modern history." (p. 116) Well said, Gregory Davis!

The threat of Islam to Western civilization- The need to understand the 'ideological element' in the

The thesis of this work is that 'Islam' is not a private religion, but one which aims at a certain Utopian social- political order. This social- political order is achieved through total submission of the individual to the communal theological imperative. 'Islam' is the religion of total submission, and as such is also a plan for ruling the world. The means to this are often violent, and terror is too a means. But Davis wishes to make it clear that the West's war for survival should not be defined as a war on the 'means' i.e. Terror , but rather on the Islamic Totalitarian Ideology. In the course of forwarding this thesis Davis makes another claim which many will dispute. He claims that essentially there is no moderate Islam, and all appeals in that direction are futile. He believes that what the West should be aiming in its struggle with Islam is for the secularization of a good share of the Islamic world. The view that encouraging moderate Muslims toward democracy and more individual liberties within their own societies is one which is held by many respected students of Islam, including 'hawks' in the War against Terror, such as Daniel Pipes. Nonetheless whether one believes that Islam can reform itself from within or not, this book does paint an accurate picture of the kind of radical totalitarian Islam which is sweeping the Islamic world, and posing such a great threat to the West today.

Enlightened

This book explained to me why everything I suspected was true. I have had many conversations with Muslims and it is like talking to an alien that sometimes lies and sometimes tells the truth. You never know when or what they are actually saying. The simple and complete explanation of how their religion works, ie: lying, abrogation of doctrine, waiting for strenghth have given me a greater understanding and taught me how to better deal with Muslims. On a larger scale, it is also scary. We need to wake up and quit being politically correct about everything.

"ROP" and documentary are a powerful one-two punch

I read "Religion of Peace?" after seeing the documentary that Dr. Davis produced called "Islam: What the West Needs to Know." The documentary leaves no doubt that Islam is less a "religion" than a totalitarian ideology that holds millions in thrall. The book reinforced that understanding, while giving new insights into the origins of the "religion" and its likely evolution -- likely into something even worse than we're seeing today. A reformation is not enough at this point. I found Dr. Davis's book compelling and scary and recommend it to anyone looking for the "politically incorrect" truth about Islam.

Religion of Peace?

"Religion of Peace?" is a well-documented, fast moving wakeup call to the West. It reveals that, far from being a distortion of Islam, violence is intrinsic to it. Readers will learn here that Islam is not so much a religion in the traditional sense of the word as it is a political system grounded, like Communism, in violent expansion and forced conversion. Besides being highly informative, "Religion of Peace" moves quickly. I highly reccomend it to anyone who is serious about current events.
