Have you ever 'accidentally' run across an author that really stuns you with her writing? By chance I bought CAUGHT IN THE ACT and went online to see what other books JL had written. I found that I had read only her SECOND PUBLISHED NOVEL! So, I had to have more - located RELATIVE STRANGERS, her first novel, and was just as impressed. Finally, I bought FOUND WANTING, her third book, and couldn't believe I was hooked on this author! Anyway, to RELATIVE STRANGERS: Meg Grant is a journalist who moves to Florida to start life over after a horrible marriage and threatening ex. She's recently lost her parents to an automobile accident & feels she is leaving nothing behind her. Adopted very young, Meg can't get the fact that she has a sister out there 'somewhere' and has made a crusade of trying to find her. Enter Margot, a professional thief, on the run from some pretty slimy characters that think she's doubled-crossed them over some emeralds. Bitter that her lover in Florida, Beau Kama, who was originally her target of a scam, is murdered because of it, is trying to cover her tracks and elude the bad guys. Interestingly, Meg & Margot look remarably alike (Hmmm...) Enter Ryan Kama, Beau's brother. He's got an axe to grind with the bad guys who murdered his brother and the con-artist broad that set him up. Now who in Florida do you think he runs across? That's right! Meg, Margot's look-alike. Crazy for revenge, Ryan apprehends Meg, holds her prisoner, and turns her in to the police! Pleading innocence, Meg is caught between feeling like a kidnap victim and feeling some empathy for Ryan. Somewhere along the way, Ryan begins to suspect he's got the wrong girl, and to his surprise he's stifling his reluctant affection for this woman. What happens along the way is for you to find out. I've given enough away. I hope you have as enjoyable a read as I did as the story plays out. Try this author. As a bookaholic for Romance\Suspence this is right down my alley and I think you'll be looking for more of Joyce Lamb.
This kept me up way too late one night!

For a first-time novelist, Joyce Lamb has a fantastically strong understanding of plot -- this book surprised me more than once. As a writer, I also know writing sex scenes is a difficult thing to pull off, but Lamb does it with good taste and nice "heat."
