Book Overview

By God's design, romance is supposed to be the flame in the fireplace of marital intimacy. Yet far too many Christian couples feel cheated because their marriage produces as much spark as a book of wet matches. Others have neglected to fan the flames of passion for so long that they have lost hope of experiencing romance.

Rekindling the Romance, now available in trade paper, is organized into short, biblically-based chapters. Packed with...

Amazing results!

My wide and I read this book, out loud, to each other and found it opened up a lot of great conversations and new levels of understanding. Highly recommended!

Great condition.

Thank you for the book. Great condition as stated in the description. Only thing that could be improved was the mail delivery. However, I know I got what I paid for ;) Pay for more, and get it quicker - but I'm cheap! Ha ha. Thank you again!

Great book!

Dennis & Barbara Rainey did a great job with this book! Rekindling the Romance is for husbands AND wives. Light, humorous and easy-to-read, Dennis and Barbara give very practical Christian advice for adding a little playfulness and romance back into your marriage and rediscovering the fun you experienced while dating. The book is divided into two sections: one written by Barbara for the women, and the other written by Dennis for the men. Each section begins with the same fictional and humorous story of a marriage between "Bryan" and "Angela", but each account is told from Bryan and Angela's different point of views. If you and your spouse are reading the book separately, make sure that you both read each of the stories. You will gain a lot of perspective into your spouse from that alone! For the women, Barbara discusses the natural and inevitable disappointments in marriage and how they actually strengthen the commitment in your marriage. She spends time discussing the differences in how women and men express romance and how to practically express romance to your husband in ways he will best appreciate it. Barbara gives great work-around ideas for interruptions and distractions (e.g. KIDS!!) that can potentially put the ka-bosh on romance in a household. For the men, Dennis discusses what women need to feel romanced, which is very different from what men need. He gives lots of useful tips, little things, that would be meaningful to your wife and be construed as romantic. He really does a fabulous job in communicating what women want! He discusses relevant issues that men face today that interfere with a healthy marriage relationship, and encouragement on getting past these "romance robbers". Scattered throughout both sections you will find "romantic interludes", which are small little ideas you can do for your spouse today without much preparation. At the conclusion of each section are 5 bigger ideas, which do require advanced preparation. Read the book together, or read each of the sections separately. You will no doubt benefit from the Rainey's advice and ideas. My suggestion is to read this book when your relationship needs a little spark back to it, not when things are going really well. If things are going well and romance is in the air at your household, get this book and put it on the shelf for one of those inevitable rainy seasons. You can't help but benefit from the Rainey's ideas during those times!

One of the Best!

I was given this book by a friend some time ago, and decided last week to pull it off the shelf. I'm glad I did. Dennis and Barbara Rainey, cofounders of "Family Life" ministry, have a real gift for providing tools that will enhance and invigorate any marriage. Whether newlyweds or long-time partners, the comments made here by the Raineys will offer insights any husband or wife will find helpful. The first major portion of the book is addressed particularly to wives, written by Barbara. The second major portion of the book is addressed particularly to husbands, written by Dennis. The goal of each section is to help each partner better meet the emotional and physical needs of the other. Reading through the portion addressed to one's spouse will reveal just how on-target the comments are. I've read several books of this nature, and this title is one of the best available for Christian married couples. I recommend it highly.
