A very interesting book, although Calic is not a natural writer. Perhaps it has something to do with the translation. But what Calic was more than anything else, was that he was THERE. Almost as an aside, about two-thirds of the way through the book, Calic mentions that a witness told him something "when we were both in the same concentration camp." Oh.At the time Calic wrote this book, former Nazis and Nazi apologists were still lingering around Germany, and Calic does a good job interviewing them and contrasting their "stories" to show how pervasive and perverse Heydrich's SD really was.Read this (you'll probably have to get it at a library) and then go rent "Conspiracy" with Kenneth Branaugh and see how smooth and sophisticated evil can be.
Very good biography - a quick read.

Very well written and documented biography on one of the most compelling, sinister, yet somewhat lesser known personalities of the century. This book uncovered many activities and attributed them to Heydrich which may surprise the readers. I certainly recommend this to anyone interested in learning more about the personalities of those who ruled the Third Reich.
definately a true definition of a real biography
