A Reilly's blessing

A great Book ,never wanted to put it down had to finish it. I loved it. Elizabeth Keys did it again . Alsoread Reilly's Pride, Reilly's Heart, Reilly's Gold.

Blessing or curse? Very highly recommended

REILLY'S LAW, the first of a three part series by Elizabeth Keys, introduces three brothers united by an ancient psychic gift. The Irish Blessing, as it is called, consists of knowing when love arrives, however maddening or tantalizing that knowledge might be. Bryan Reilly once put aside his passion for the sea, forsaking the Reilly ships, to take up the cause of the law. He can't forget the dreams he'd lost through his own reckless folly and the subsequent estrangement from his family. As he stands upon a Reilly ship sailing from Limerick, Ireland in 1858, Bryan is aghast at the remarkable young woman's daring when she approaches him, begging him to kiss her. Heedless impulse once cost him everything, and once again he finds himself giving into impulse despite his years of careful control. The kiss hides Emilynne Wellesley and her two young children from the men who stalk them. Fearful for all their lives, she desperately throws her lot in with this stranger, hoping they can sail to safety. Little does she suspect that the kiss brings to bear an ancient Irish Blessing, or the destiny she's set into motion. Emilynne has always preferred her studies of ancient scrolls over traditional feminine mysteries. Such a background hasn't prepared her for Bryan's devastating kiss or for the danger she faces.Thaddeus Whyte has insidious plans for the young children, planning to rid himself of them much as he did their parents. He won't loose the livelihood and fine reputation he's created for himself as a trainer and horse breeder. He'll stop at nothing to gain custody of the children and the fortune they represent.I confess to waiting until the last part of this series arrived in the mail to rescue this novel from my bookcase. When I read the cover, I found the concept of a blessing is so intriguing I couldn't resist reading this series in order. First time author Elizabeth Keys proves her remarkable skill with words, creating a novel of surprising maturity and lyrical skill based on a fascinating paranormal premise. The plot of REILLY'S LAW moves smartly along, including two young children with remarkable skill. Further, it's just great fun to watch the "bad guys" get their comeuppance. Very highly recommended.

Enchanting new voice in romance!

A mystical blessing, a mysterious beauty, and two needy children in danger prove too much for straight-laced solicitor Bryan Reilly to resist. Lyrical prose, well-drawn characters, an intriguing paranormal twist, and spicy, satisfying romance make Reilly's Law irresistible reading as well. A brief introduction to the Reilly brothers in the beginning feeds the reader's desire to get to know all three of the Reilly men and how the family legacy will affect them, be it blessing or curse. I'll be waiting for Reilly's Gold, the next brother's tale.

Wow what a Debut Book

When three young Irish lads lose their Gran, they celebrate her memory as they recite the Druidic Blessing, be it a blessing or a curse. But for Bryan Reilly, years later he must decide whether the appearance of a beautiful young woman and her charges are not really a curse or the blessing he so richly deserves. Although the story is set in England for the most part those who want a distinctive Irish flavor won't be disappointed. This debut book from new Ballad line from Zebra is sure to capture the heart and soul of many historical readers as they take a journey with two lost souls who have placed honor and integrity before their own needs. "REILLY'S LAW is fast paced with plenty of surprises and Ms Keys leaves no loose ends which is remarkable for a debut book. Knowing this is the first of the Irish Blessings trilogy, readers will delight in the arrival of REILLY'S GOLD( Dec.2000) and REILLY'S PRIDE( May 2001) if only so to find out what Bryan is up to. Ms. Keys is a welcome new voice in historical romance and if this is the quality of the stories Zebra will offer in their Ballad Romance series romance readers are in for a rare treat." ...so says Romancing the Celtic Soul

An impressive debut!

REILLY'S LAW is an exciting story from beginning to end. The story of solicitor/boat captain Bryan Reilly and the young woman he meets when she literally flings herself into his arms is a joy to read. Bryan Reilly is traveling to England to secure financing for his family's fledgling ship yard while Emilynne Wellesley needs to flee Ireland and the man bent on obtaining custody of her young niece and nephew. Emilynne doesn't trust Thaddeus Whyte and with good reason. All he cares about is gaining control of the estate of Emilynne's recently deceased brother and sister-in-law -- he could care less about the children. This story was quite a pleasant surprise. Rarely does one find a first-time author with such maturity. This is the first of a trilogy and I can hardly wait for the next two stories!
