This is the story of a cow named Reginald who lives in the jungle. (Actually, he is a bull, but no one in the jungle can tell the two apart.) Because Reginald is different, his neighbors are anything... This description may be from another edition of this product.
When I read it to my sons, ages 6 and 9, they laughed so hard they were literally crying real tears!! The "lunatic ape" who shouts out "I'm gonna eatcha!" got them laughing uncontrollably. Not only does this book have kooky, creative, cartoon-like characters, but also gives them personalities. This book provides laughs AND a real message of winning friends; overcoming bullies with words and kindness; and being self-confident even when you are different and alone. Wow! What a great first book for author Jeff Newman! Can't wait for his next one!

Reginald the cow lives in the jungle - so he's different from his jungle neighbors, who are irritable and just plain unfriendly. Reginald refuses to bow to their crazy habits and unfriendliness, but he still wants to be friends - can he turn them into buddies? Zany drawings for this warm story of friendship.

Best kid's book of the year

Hip and positive without being obvious, adults will smile at the illustrative details (a lobster bib on an ape, the puckered lips of an old frog) while children lose themselves to the characters. The story educates if you want it to (the difference between a bull and a cow, the bats who "rarely come out during the day",) and slips in plenty of funny lines that'll make adults laugh while kids don't miss a beat. Top-notch illustration. Reminds me of the unforgettable books of my childhood by Illustrator/Author Etienne Delessert.
Wonderful characters and more!

This book draws you in and has a really great message to it! Plus the artwork is lush, fun and has great details that you keep finding the more times you read it! I would highly recommend this book, as the characters are great and you fall in love with Reginald, a big bull with the tiniest little arms and legs you've ever seen!!!A Great first book by a promising author/illustrator!
