Reed's Promise

What a refreshing character Mr. Clarkson has created with Reed. Most authors instill their character with some type of personality flaw but this author has taken a new approach and given Reed not an ordinary personal problem to overcome but a serious disabilty. Reed is a tough force to be reckoned with in spite of being a recent amputee. I would love to read more intrigue involving this character.

John - where are you?

After reading And Justice For One, I read every book I could get my hands by J.C. I would rate them all 5 stars. I mean the books are page turning, can't put it down. I have shared them with friends who also agree. I am always on the look out for the next one. The only problem is that J.C's books are few and far between. I would love to know if anything is in the works for the near future. Again bravo for this author. Diane Brown

Reed's Promise

What a wonderful way to spend a hot summer day. Watching a man come to terms with his disability and the disability of his cousin made an engrossing read. I highly recommend this book. It is one of the best I have read this sumer.

Overcoming disabilities

Characters that don't fit the usual mode and all too human at that, propel a different kind of action novel. Judicious editing might have helped, but this is a page turner none the less. I'll look for his other stuff.

Another action packed adventure from Clarkson !

John Clarkson, a veteran of gritty, hard-edged action books, has created a more complex protagonist in his latest offering. Bill Reed, a former NYC detective and recent amputee, is slowly coming to grips with his own physical limitations, however he must stand up again and resume his place in the world when he learns that his cousin is in danger. For Clarkson fans who still miss Jack Devlin and await his return, Reed is a less heroic character, but more real and believable. The central story line is that Reed's cousin Johnny Boy, who lives in an asylum in upstate New York, has fallen victim to a nasty bunch of mysterious villians who run the place. Reed confronts cold-blooded killers and a complex web of unsavory characters aligned to protect their interests in a small rural community; he must employ all his talents as a forensic accountant to uncover their motives and source of ill gotten gains. The book's pace picks up steam as the story unfolds and the second half is a page turner that is hard to put down.Highly recommended, a great book!
