Gorgeous illustrations with a heckuva story!

After going to Egypt in 1985 with my wife, I became very interested in how ancient Egypt was rediscovered by the Europeans in the late 18th and early 19th centuries. After a long search, I found this book for sale in the ancient history section of a U of Chicago bookstore. It was a fantastic find and I have enjoyed showing this to many friends over the years. Fortunately, you do not have to work as hard as I did to find this great book. In addition to a cracking good read, the illustrations in this book are rich in detail and plentiful in quantity. It's a wonderful gift for anyone interested in history, archeology, or the Middle East.
