A good book

I have most all the Thomas books and was eager to see this one. I like offbeat stories about non-trout fishing. At first, I was ready to dismiss this book as weaker than his previous work. The pieces were very short and lacked snap in many cases, however, by the time I was done I was pleased and entertained. It was a case of the sum is greater than the parts. While maybe not as good as the Whitefish book, I think most anyone interested in the wider world of fishing will like it. Not many books discuss fly fishing for halibut or Central America panfish. I did get tired of the fly rod snobbery and the dismissal of carp fishing.

Another success from Don Thomas

Not quite up there with Whitefish Can't Jump, his first and my favourite book on fly-fishing, but another excellent account of fly-fishing and life in many areas around the world, with associated musings on many topics related to conservation, fishing, and especially fun. A fabulous addition to the shelf of anyone who enjoys flyfishing in exotic locations - especially the salt - and likes to dream about the places they will one day visit.

Amazing tales any angler can appreciate. E Donnall Thomas, Jr. fills the pages with his memoirs of fishing over the years. This is great, and really makes you feel as if you are sitting alongside Thomas in the boat, fishing, as he tells you about all the times he's had, and fish he's encountered.
