Geary is gripping

Dont want to spoil the mystery but detective Frances is back better than ever and Geary's writing is gripping and, as before with her last book Misfortune, completely accurate about a social group and a family gone amuck. Hard to put down, the story weaves a tale of horror that does not resort to the typical grizzly of some murder stories but rather relies on the complexities of human psychology. GREAT read, should be made into a movie.Miramax, check it out

redemption

i loved the second of nancy geary's books. it was even better than the first, misfortune. i read the book in a long weekend as i could not put it down. you feel for frances. death is sad but to have 2 people you know murdered in your lifetime is beyond what most of us could comprehend. memories we all have as a child are not all they seemed to be when you look back or, when you try to go back as an adult. all of us have had a happy memory smashed just like frances. the details in the book about the murder scene and suspects could only come from someone who has once worked in a profession that has dealt with the darker side of life. i loved redemption and canot wait for the third of nancy geary's books. thank you nancy geary for a wonderful book.

Geary Gives Great Mystery

Wow! Redemption was the first book by Nancy Geary I read, and I hope it was the first of many. The characters are charming, witty, and fascinating. The mystery is taut and intriguing. And the writing is several notches above anything I've read in the mystery genre in a long time. Ms. Geary has an outstanding eye for detail and ear for emotion. This book rewards not only reading, but also rereading.

A wonderful story full of complex characters

I read Nancy Geary's first novel (*Misfortune*) after friends from the Hamptons (Long Island, where it's set) told me about it. It was great and I've been waiting for this one. *Redemption* is even better, with a clever story, a whodunnit, evocative descriptions of another romantic location, and more of the complex characters Geary creates so well -- children of privilege who are damaged and attractive at the same time. I REALLY loved it, stayed up late to get the answer, and recommend it as a fun-to-read page turner with characters you'll remember for a long time. Five stars!!!!!

Stunning, exciting novel

I rarely write reviews for any book, but Redemption is so extraordinary in its power: to entertain with riveting suspense, to inform with brilliant characterizations and understanding, to create a profound and riveting experience in discovering Manchester by the Sea (the setting of this novel)--that it seemed important to share the great experience of reading this novel. Do yourself a favor: buy this book immediately and you will want to read her next and next...Bravo!
