Very easy to follow

I have yet to read this book cover to cover, while refering to this book for a How to on configuring a DNS server in Linux I was amazed at the 'to the point' this author has described the task. I am now more intruiged about Linux and can't wait to read more and have a better understanding of Linux Red hat. I think this is a must buy for anyone planning to use Linux Red hat as a server and is new to Linux.

Excelent Book

I am windows user and i wanted to run a server using Linux so i decided to read this book and this book explains everything you need to know to get any type of server up and running. It also talks about security and how to protect your server. I recommend this book to anyone who wants to run a linux server.

Best All in One Linux Configuration Book

I share my hit and miss book purchases with other people in this industry. But this one is definitely a HIT. I have books on individual subjects covered, but as for a lot of us managing and playing with Linux, you just want to get things going quickly. For example setting up Samba or NFS. It is not a daily routine for me and I forget settings and little gotcha's. This book is clear, to the point and a great reference.

Outstanding!

I recently started working for an ISP, and had never touched Linux or UNIX before. All of my server experience was with Microsoft products. I needed to know how to set up and maintain DNS, Mail, and webservers on the new Linux servers we were setting up. After looking at many other titles, this one caught my eye. It covers everything from everyday Linux commands (since I didn't know any), to the VI editor (another clueless area for me), to X Windows, to security. This book has now earned a permanent place on my desk as my primary Linux reference. The author is technically detailed, yet puts everything in everyday language. It is one of the few "technical" books you can actually READ, instead of skimming through. I cannot recommend it enough!

Bravo, two thumbs up

A few months ago it was next to impossible to find a useful book on Linux. It seems that things are changing for the better. I read from this book for 5 hours, before I bought it. The reason for this screening was, that I didn't want to buy another lemmon (and yes, there are too many out there). I am happy to have this book in my shelf and I would like to thank the author for another step I was able to climb because of his work. Thank you. A true 5 star book.
