At a dinner party of an old friend he meets the romantic interest of the story,the beautiful Simone Plente, the most popular cinima actress in France; and the sinister and dangerous Jacques Piquet. Danger awaits Neal on the dark streets of Montmartre, the threatening ski slopes of Zermatt, and the idyllic French Riviera. The story climaxes in Marseille with some unexpected twists.
